5 New Orleans Workshops That Are Perfect for Couples

Get hands on during your next date night! We’ve scoured the city for interactive classes that are perfect for couples to experience together. Make something, learn a new skill and play at one of these stellar New Orleans’ workshops.

Dynamic Ceramics makes it easy to create a beautiful, truly one-of-a-kind piece of pottery. No prior experience required — their friendly staff guide you through the process. The classes are two hours long, no registration required. Dynamic Ceramics will notify you the next day when your pottery is ready for pickup.

It’s the perfect spot to kickoff an eventful date night out. Afterwards you can walk along Oak Street where you have plenty of spots to keep the good times rolling. We recommend drinks at Ale on Oak (8118 Oak St) followed by dinner at Cowbell (8801 Oak St) or Jacques-Imo’s (8324 Oak St) before heading over to Maple Leaf for some of the best live music in the city.

Since it’s beginnings, masking as a Mardi Gras Indian has developed into an elaborate art form complete with elaborate costumes showcasing beautifully handcrafted beading work. At the House of Dance and Feathers, class attendees learn this fascinating process of making a Mardi Gras Indian suit from the experts. They even encourage students to bring your own wine to sip while participating in the class.

Slightly different from rock climbing, bouldering is climbing at lower heights without a rope or harness. But don’t worry — the walls at New Orleans Boulder Lounge have a 14-inch padded floor beneath. Classes cost around $20 per person (that’s $16 per climber plus the $4 rental shoe fee).
